Join a chamber of commerce

Fri, Apr 30, 2010 Running a photography studio is all about being present in your community, networking and getting the word out about your photography. Often times that means working with other people that are growing their businesses. Your local chamber of commerce was created just for that purpose. Usually their is a yearly membership fee, probably working out to about a dollar a day or so. They usually have weekly networking meetings as well as monthly lunches, dinners, etc. The sole purpose of this group is to help businesses grow their business. Sound like a good idea? Some people say, “I don’t like my local chamber of commerce. Most of my clients come from a different area.” No problem. Very rarely do chambers have rules that you have to live or have your business in that community. Our studio is in downtown Portland, but most of our clients come from a suburb directly south. That’s the chamber we go to. So, get online and google your local chamber of commerce. Join up and go to every meeting you can possibly attend. Fundy
